play review

Paige Borowski IB Lit and Performance SL 11/19/19 My Thoughts On Saturday, November 16, 2019, I viewed the play “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” Witten by Simon Stephens. I watched it at Cheshire Academy in the black box theater. The main actors in the play were “Amelia Williams, Olivia Williamson, Willjam Lempling, Pacifica Yang and Ben Goth. Amelia played Christopher, Olivia played Siobahn, Willjam played Ed, Pacifica played Judy and Ben played Roger.  The play is about a boy named Christopher who suffers from autism. The play starts out with Christopher next to a dead dog, impaled with a garden fork. Throughout the play, Christophers teacher, Siobahn, reads Christophers book which outlines the events of the play. When Christopher finds the dead dog, he wants to find the murderer. His father, Ed, tells his not to. Along the way, we find out that Christopher's mother, Judy, is dead. Christopher finds himself dealing with a lot of conflict between h...

play notes pt.2

- so far, I am a little confused. - it's obvious that Christopher took the exam - is he in a play? - Christopher thinks fondly of Siobhan     - kinda sees her as a sort of mother figure - he has to stay between mother and fathers home - im not sure why Christopher is mad at ed - for some reason, his parents can only be with him a short amount of time - Christopher gets a new dog     - incentive to want to see his dad - he figured out who killed the dog - he got the best grade possible on the test - he looked for his mother - maybe he's mad at his father because Christopher found out that his mother is actually alive - basically, Christopher wrote a book and that is what the play turned into

play notes

- it seems Christopher has conflict with everyone but Siobhan  - Christopher doesn't like to be touched sometimes - all of these sections explain more and more about Christophers autism - Judy didn't know how to deal with Christophers autism     - regrets not being a good mother - Judy had a lot of conflict with Ed - last 2 sections bring to light the home life for Christopher - Judy doesn't totally know what's best for Christopher

reflection of poem performances

Paige Borowski IB Lit and performance  11/3/19 I found this project seemed very interesting. Each poem had a performance that wasn’t exactly what was on the page. Each group put their own twist on it and made a compelling performance. The two that I liked and felt fit this format was Mia’s group and Cole’s group.  Mia’s group did the poem “I, Too.” It was interesting how they depicted the poem. In the video, they showed someone at the table and when Lauren and Mia came in, he was told to move to the kitchen. The voice of a fourth person comes in and starts reading the poem. It was very interesting to me to see that there was an outside person reading the poem but acting as the voice of the person sitting at the table told to move to the kitchen. The other video I chose to look at does the same thing. It shows a person sitting on a stool struggling to read and getting frustrated. Amy then comes in to talk to the boy but doesn’t speak. It’s a third party that read...
