Walter Lee: chauffeur, wants to own liquor store, big dreams, space constricted as well as role        
   constricted
Ruth: housekeeper, she is cautious, focused on Travis, opposite of Beneatha, weak
Travis: in elementary school (10-11 years old)
Walter: deceased  
Beneatha: in school, wants to be a doctor, doesn't want to get married, similar to Walter lee, 
   progressive, not constrained by gender roles
Lena: Christian, clashed with Beneatha because Beneatha rejects some standards of previous  
   generation, calm, strong, head of family

plot: insurance money being received due to the death of Walter - $10,000
- brings to light their dreams
      - beneatha wants to use it to go to school, also thinks it's Lena's money
      - Walter lee wants to open liquor store
      - Lena wants to buy a house, wanted to do it so long ago but can't because no one will leave
